Well another wonderful visit to my favorite city. Days spent idly in bruins having an Amstel or some other more eclectic beer, cycling around the canals, the straats and grachts. We made our way to new places we hadn’t been to before, from the NSDM Werf, the reclaimed shipyard that has been taken over by artists and musicians to become a great new place for them to work and collaborate, to the new Bimhuis, the ultra modern complex on the water behind Centraal Station. I had won tickets by answering a question in the English website of the paper, Amsterdam Weekly, to the Try Tone Festival, and the music was very experimental, and an enjoyable experience, as one can take in drinks and coffees to have around tables while listening to the show. A great venue and as there is jazz almost every night, and many well known artists, a must see for anyone wanting a cool music experience. We also went to the Paradiso and saw Maceo Parker, Sax player for James Brown and prince among others and what a wild whipped up show it was. I can’t wait til the next time….
