Today I am going to begin a discussion on creating a Digital Repository. I am currently doing this in my position as IT Officer for the Sea Your History project at the Royal Naval Museum in Portsmouth UK.
The task for our project was to:
- Accumulate Digital Assets (images, audio, flash interactives, other digital files)
- Define a method of workflow (asset selection and approval)
- Capture metadata relating to the asset
- Define storage requirements
- Define a long term preservation strategy
- Define a method of access
